About Jessica
Jessica Nunan, LMSW is a licensed master social worker with more than 20 years of experience working alongside individuals, families, and communities navigating challenging circumstances, relationships, and life transitions. Throughout her career, she has been grounded in a belief in people's resilience and capacity for growth, even in the midst of difficult experiences.
Jessica approaches her work from a strengths-based and resilience-focused perspective. She believes that people are more than the challenges they are facing and that meaningful change can begin by recognizing the strengths, relationships, experiences, and resources already present in their lives. She strives to create a welcoming and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel heard, reflect on their experiences, and explore what they want for themselves and their relationships.
Jessica brings extensive experience helping young people and families understand relationships and recognize the differences between healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationship dynamics. Her work has included a particular focus on teen dating violence prevention and supporting young people in developing healthy relationships with dating partners, peers, siblings, and family members. This experience has deepened her understanding of how relationships can shape our sense of safety, connection, identity, and well-being.
Her broader professional experience includes working with youth, adults, and families affected by trauma, family violence, relationship challenges, and other circumstances that can affect their well-being. She also recognizes the important role that culture, family, community, and life experiences play in shaping how we understand ourselves and navigate our relationships.
Jessica earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Berry College in 2001 and her master's degree in Social Work from Georgia State University in 2003. She has held leadership and community roles at the local and state levels, including serving as a gubernatorial appointee to the Georgia Commission on Family Violence.
Jessica believes therapy can provide a space to pause, be heard, better understand your experiences, and reconnect with the strengths that can help you move forward.
