About Breon
Breon Gaines is a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and young adults build confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being. This Spelman College alum earned her Master’s of Art in Counseling from George Washington University and has worked in hospitals, schools, and private practice, giving her a broad range of experience with diverse populations and needs.
Breon specializes in supporting individuals who are “deeply feeling,” struggle with self-esteem, are Autistic, or have experienced significant life changes. She draws from Psychodynamic and Narrative Therapy while also incorporating play, humor, art, and nature-based interventions to create meaningful, personalized growth experiences.
In her work with children, Breon uses Child-Centered Play Therapy—the language of play—to understand and connect with each child, focusing on strengthening their inner resources and using the therapeutic relationship as a tool for development. She collaborates closely with parents and caregivers to provide strategies, resources, and insights that support progress beyond the therapy room.
Her approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and tailored to each client’s unique strengths and needs. She helps clients manage depression, anxiety, and life stressors while fostering self-acceptance and quieting the negative thoughts that can lead to self-doubt.
Breon believes that every person is more than their symptoms or struggles—they are whole, capable, and filled with untapped potential. Her therapeutic space is warm, forgiving, and empowering, offering clients a safe place to explore their stories, discover their strengths, and create lasting change.
