Adelma Bryant-McKenzie is a dedicated master's level student at Capella University, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. She proudly holds membership in both the Delta Kappa Honor Society for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Her unwavering ambition is to achieve licensure as a Marriage & Family Therapist.
Adelma's academic journey began at Florida A&M University (FAMU), where she earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Education. Her professional experiences have led her to work with at-risk youth and the prison population, fueling her fascination with the intricacies of human behavior. Adelma firmly believes that every facet of an individual's life is interconnected and influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors.
Deeply concerned by the prevailing neglect and stigma surrounding mental health in her family and community, Adelma has taken it upon herself to be an advocate for awareness, education, and de-stigmatization. She lives by the mantra, "you can't pour from an empty cup," as a constant reminder to prioritize self-care in order to better serve others.
At RJCS, Adelma is gaining valuable experience in psychiatric practices, including diagnosing, treatment planning, and assessments. She also employs systemic and family-centered approaches when working with couples and families. Her clinical interests primarily revolve around adolescents, couples, and families, and she adopts a client-centered approach, firmly believing that "You are the expert on you!"
