About Ai'ja

As a dedicated Master's level intern building my therapeutic skills, I am currently in my final months of completing a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Clark Atlanta University. My journey in mental health has been deeply enriching, allowing me to develop a profound understanding and a diverse skill set aimed at fostering mental wellness, growth, and development within individuals and their communities.

With over five years of experience in teaching, supporting, and caring for children, I have honed a specialty in play therapy. This unique approach allows me to connect with youth in a meaningful way, helping them navigate their emotions and experiences through play. My time at Clark Atlanta University has been instrumental in shaping my professional journey. Under the guidance of licensed clinical professionals, I have gained invaluable insights and practical skills that continue to enhance my therapeutic practice.

Currently, I am practicing at Renewed Journey Counseling Services, LLC, a well-established mental health group practice in Tucker, Georgia. Here, I work alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists, psychiatrists, and wellness coaches. My responsibilities include conducting individual, family, and couples therapy, performing psychosocial assessments, documenting treatment plans, managing crises, and facilitating group therapy sessions. This role has provided me with invaluable experience in a clinical setting, enhancing my skills in delivering comprehensive mental health services.

My previous professional experience includes a counselor internship at Success Brand in Atlanta, where I conducted individual therapy sessions tailored to the developmental needs of children and adolescents. I developed and implemented therapeutic treatment plans based on thorough assessments and diagnostic evaluations, collaborating with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to support each child's therapeutic goals and academic performance.

In addition to my clinical work, I have a rich background in education, having nurtured and educated children at Huntington Learning Center. My role involved adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with learning disabilities, and fostering a passion for learning through a comprehensive curriculum.

Volunteering with the Atlanta Police Activity League allowed me to serve as a positive role model for children and adolescents, encouraging them to set and achieve personal goals while supporting their emotional and social development. This experience further solidified my commitment to empowering future leaders and fostering a love for learning and personal growth.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring new restaurants, and continuously learning new skills. My commitment to mental health and my passion for creating positive change drive me to empower those I serve, helping them achieve their fullest potential.

I am currently accepting new clients and am known for being open, compassionate, sharp, and supportive. I look forward to the opportunity to support you or your loved ones on the journey to mental wellness and personal growth. Together, we can create a path towards a brighter, healthier future.
